Its time for you to start planning for a great event.

We are going to get this thing off the ground, virus or no virus.

Obvioulsy we are going to have to adapt to today's realities.

The same awsome trails and gravel road are still out there.

More details to follow as we get the puzzle solved.

Wouldn't a entry to Piggy's be a great last minute X-mas gift?

See you there February 28th

Eric

Piggy's Revenge 2020 Information

Here's the scoop about this Sunday's event.

All trails are dry today, we expect a small amount of rain on Saturday that shouldn’t make any difference. The temperatures should on the cool side, the conditions couldn’t be better. The courses we laid out will challenge your endurance at times, so if you can relax, look up and enjoy your surroundings. You are lucky to ride in such a beautiful area of Florida.

Directions: I-75 exit 193 Jacaranda Blvd., go North (away from gas stations and hotels) and turn right on Border Road. follow to the end take a left into T. Mabry Carlton Memorial Reserve at 1800 Mabry Carlton Pkwy, Venice 34292. Parking will open up at 6:00 am, everybody has to park in the assigned parking area. Please place your envelope on your dash, with the label visible. This helps us identify who you are if you don’t make it back to your car. Restrooms and start area are 0.7 miles from parking.

Saturday, we have a packet pickup from 5:00-7:00 pm at Off The Wagon Brewery and Kitchen at 2107 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice 34293. Great place for a bite and a pint. Sunday morning, we will have coffee and muffins at the start.

The first group to start are the 60's at 7:45 sharp. I will lead them from the pavilion to the start line .5 miles away. The 40's will leave as soon as I get back probably around 8:30. The 20's will probably leave 45 minutes after that. The 10 mile fun ride will leave around the same time. The SAG stop, also known as "Tom's Oasis", will have snacks and plenty of beer and fireball. Make sure to stop but don't stay too long. The course is marked at every turn and crossing, if you get to an intersection without any markings you are off course. Turn around and go back to the last sign you crossed. Don’t overthink it, look for bike tracks or other riders. All main intersections have a post with a number that corresponds to county maps.

The finish area will feature free beer samples from 3 Bridges Brewing. You better be thirsty we have a lot of it. Homemade Bratwurst, Chicken, bean salad, tabbouleh and pasta salad await your arrival. We start serving food at 11:30. You must have your bracelet to get food. Food is for riders only.

Remember to be self-reliant, be prepared for mechanical breakdowns, stay fed and hydrated.
You will be in very remote areas with little access and spotty cell service so make sure you have plenty of battery life or a backup source if needed. You are on your own. This needs repeating, you are on your own. We will not come out and bring you back, make sure your ride is reliable, otherwise it's a long walk back. Help your fellow riders, be smart, have fun experiencing the real Florida, respect the wildlife and don't touch the pig traps. Watch out for fire ants look before you step.
Approximate SAG stops:
20 miles around mile 11
40 miles around mile 7 and 28, water only around mile 14 and 23
60 miles around mile 7 and 35, water at 30 or finish area at 40
60 miler is a 40 mile loop taking you back to the start then a separate 20 mile loop with a cut off at 1:00 pm. There are small discrepancies on the GPS file so always follow the arrows.
My cell is 941-468-. Put my cell in your phones now while you are thinking about it.
See you Sunday morning! Eric
